Dianna Lopez

Donor Hero

“She was a loving sister, daughter, granddaughter, niece and friend to many. Dianna could light up even the darkest of rooms with her beautiful smile and spunky attitude.” shared Heath, uncle of donor hero Dianna.

A member of the Lake City High School soccer team, Dianna graduated in June 2019. She loved her family, friends, music and children, especially her cousin’s kids.

Just a few months after turning 18, Dianna was in a tragic car accident.

“Family and friends gathered and prayed she would make it through,” Heath recalls, “but the following day, she was pronounced brain dead, and our hearts were shattered”

Even in grief, Dianna’s family honored her giving spirit. “God brought life back into her body through her organ donations to those who received a miracle.” Heath said.

Dianna was the first organ donor after Carolina Hospital System transitioned to MUSC Florence. Her family also knows the gift of donation from the other side. Her cousin Ceyrena received a heart transplant that saved her life. “We didn’t fully understand the impact of donation until we lived both sides,” Heath shared. “Dianna gave hope, second chances and changed lives, even from Heaven.”
