Jason Haskins
Donor Hero
“Our brother Jason was a kind, sweet person who had a heart for others. He was born on December 1st, 1975, and was a miracle baby, born with less than a 50% chance of survival, two months premature with cerebral palsy. He continued to defy the odds and overcome many obstacles throughout his life. Doctors said that he might never walk, but he did at one year old. He was integrated into a traditional classroom, earned his high school diploma and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Anderson University.” shared Lisa, sister of donor hero Jason.
“He was loved deeply by our family, friends and church where he served as a deacon. Jason was also an avid fan of Clemson Tigers football. With two sisters and our mom, he was the quietest of our bunch and understood that God gave us two ears and only one mouth for a reason. He was devoted to our family and was an incredible son, brother and uncle. Our niece will gladly tell you that Jason was her best friend in the whole world.
Jason died very unexpectedly on March 6, 2025, and after the doctors called us in to discuss his condition, the conversation quickly moved to organ donation. It was hard knowing that there would be no miracle for Jason, but the next best thing was for him to be that miracle for another family. There was never a question for us as to whether or not Jason would want to donate. Donation is the greatest sacrifice and equally the greatest blessing. It gives us comfort knowing that three people are alive today because of Jason. We are extremely proud of his final act of love.”
