John Galloway

Donor Hero

“My life changed forever on March 10, 2021, when I got a call saying my brother was in the hospital with injuries from a fall. I knew John was a registered organ donor, and despite the pain, I felt pride knowing he would help others,” shared Cheryl, sister of donor hero John.

“John was a wonderful friend and did anything he could to help those around him. He loved spending time with family and friends, but most of all, he loved telling stories that made others laugh. John loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was also a volunteer at Fair Shake Hunting Club. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

John always wanted to travel the world, but never got to. As a cornea donor, John restored sight to two women. As those women live their lives with restored vision, John now sees the world through their eyes. I am incredibly proud of my brother for being an organ donor, and I have registered as a donor in his honor. I miss him very much, but knowing that he saved lives brings me some comfort.”
