Keegan Johnson

Donor Hero

“I always knew that Keegan would change the world, I just didn’t know how. He was always the center of our attention and a true hero,” shared donor mom Allison about her son Keegan.

“In 2022, my 17-year-old son, Keegan, passed away. On his driver’s license, he was registered as an organ donor. We honored his wishes, and now our whole family is also registered as donors.

The honor walk for Keegan was filled with singing and cheering. We miss him and we know our lives will never be the same, but I am so thankful to be his mom. Keegan always wanted to leave a big legacy. He was always front and center in everything and had already inspired so many in his life. His funeral was his last celebration, with 1,300 people in attendance. Keegan’s lasting legacy is the impact he had on the earth and the lives he saved through his donation.

If someone were to just meet Keegan, they would say he was kind and respectful. He took what he was taught and used it to teach and inspire others. He was a true helper, and I have heard from hundreds of people who Keegan helped.

I want people to know how special he was. He was the best big brother in the world and loved his family. He accepted everyone and was never judgmental. He loved sports, played football, and was a huge Clemson Tigers fan.

I work in the hospital and know there are a lot of misconceptions about organ donation, especially from television and movies. Organ donation is not a scary thing; it is a beautiful thing. Education is the key, and it is everyone’s personal decision to make, but I encourage everyone to register as an organ donor.”
