Jameka Crooks

Kidney Recipient

“Jameka has Turner’s Syndrome, and we knew at birth that she would need a new kidney. I became a living kidney donor and gave my daughter a kidney when she was five,” shared mom and living kidney donor, Mae.

“She needed a second kidney at nine years old, and after spending a year on dialysis, she received a second kidney transplant from a donor hero in 2010.

Knowledge is powerful; the more we share our story with the world, the stronger the donation mission will be. I love to share our testimony. I love to talk about how our faith in God and the marvels of modern medicine worked hand in hand to allow my daughter to achieve her dreams and walk through life with the biggest smile. Jameka enjoys spending time in nature. She volunteers at events to spread the word about donation and participates in the Transplant Games of America, representing Team South Carolina. She couldn’t do any of this without the gift of life she received from a donor hero,” shared Mae.
